After living in Santiago for two years, we have a list of our favorite places:

My first favorite is Doña Tina located in Lo Barnechea Comuna in Santiago. This place has character, which is why I like it the best, and during the weekends they have live music. The dish to try will be “Pastel de Choclo” this dish consists of beef and corn casserole, but you have to know that this is a special dish only served during the summer time. If it is winter time I will recommend “Cazuela de Vacuno” this is a type of stew that makes you feel good inside and out in those cold winter days. And of course let´s not forget to try a good Chilean wine with it.

Another favorite of ours, good at any time of day or year is Quick Lunch Aleman, this place is more economic, and it is the place to be for a good sandwich. The one to try is “Barros Luco” accompanied by a “schop” which is Cristal, their national beer. So if you are pressed on time, this place makes honor to its name; it´s quick, and the sandwiches are really good with the best salsa pebre, porotos verdes, avocado, and everything else. The sandwiches are really good in this place. If you are interested in trying a very traditional Chilean sandwich, very local style, then you have to try a “Completo” which is a hot dog sandwich with the classic tomato, avocado and mayo toppings, nothing gets more Chilean than this, Chileans call this toppings tomate, palta, mayo.

This place doesn´t have a web page so here is the address: Avenida Apoquindo 6240 Las Condes, Santiago, Chile.

For something more convenient talking about location and a good meal, we have Bar Liguria with three different locations. It is easy to find since they are close to three metro exits; metro Manuel Montt, metro Tobalaba, and metro Pedro de Valdivia. The original restaurant is Liguria Manuel Montt, so this is the one we visited the most, it´s ambience is unique, and the menu has some funny phrases if you can find them. This place serves good Chilean food the dish to try will be “Pollo al Pil pil” with pure picante and a Chilean Pisco Sour. If you are into beef the dish to try will be “Osobuco a la cerveza negra” also with pure picante; which is mashed potatoes with some spicy seasonings, or you could get a salad. This should be accompanied by Kunstmann Torobayo beer.

If what you are looking for is a good steak Happening is the place, their specialty is beef plain and simple, they offer different beef cuts with a good salad and excellent wine, so you are set. This place is very popular since it is also close to the metro station El Golf, the prices are on the high end, and they can be slow at times so don´t try this place in a hurry. This is the place to go with good friends and just take your time to enjoy good company with a good meal.

Another exclusive place is Tierra Noble with their specialty in meats and seafood, it also has a great variety of wines, and their wine cellar is one of the biggest in Chile which is one of the reasons for this place to be so popular. The prices are high, and reservations are recommended for this place. This restaurant has different areas that are perfect for any type of private celebration or a business reunion. They are open for lunch hours and then dinner hours, but this place doesn´t stay open all day. This is another reason why it is suggested to give them a call before going there. This place has easy access from the metro station El Golf, and it is very popular among tourists staying at the Ritz Carlton in Las Condes, Region Metropolitana, Chile.
